![]() On my smartphone after the app syncs the Garmin Explore app showed the imported route with an option to display the elevation profile. Again, regardless if you use the web or app to import the route you can only see the elevation profile using the Garmin Explore app.įor example using a my computer and browser I exported a Komoot route and imported that route into Garmin Explore website. BUT, when viewing routes in the Garmin Explore app (iOS or Android) you can see elevation profiles even when importing from Komoot into Garmin Explore web site or app. It is also worth noting, that Garmin Explore website (for some reason) does not show elevation profiles. It is used to create routes and GPS files. When using an SD card the Disc Image File must be copied to the ' Garmin' folder and renamed to "gmapsupp.img".When you say elevation data is lost is it there but incorrect or just not there at all? I know that Komoot applies a smoothing algorithm to the elevation profiles so in areas with a lot of change like in the Appalachian Mts the elevation data due to smoothing doesn't reflect elevation data I get from other sources. Garmin BaseCamp is a great free GPX file viewer software for Windows 10 and Mac. You can also copy to an SD card in your computer or Garmin GPS. If the map is not listed on your GPS then you don't have the correct folder, move the Disc Image file to the other folder. The ' Map' folder should be created at the same level as the ' Garmin' folder. I also used to copy and paste gpx file for trail to go to the trail head. Free updates as well and free traffic updates when needed (to avoid traffic on long weekends). High confidence when theres no cellular service. You may need to create the ' Map' folder when installing the map for the first time. With the previous 4Runner I preferred to use Garmin GPS as well.
